Add Embedded Files
Attach files to a PDF document as embedded file attachments.
Overview
The Add Embedded Files tool attaches one or more files to a PDF document. Embedded files (also called attachments) are stored inside the PDF and can be extracted by the recipient. This is useful for bundling source data, supplementary materials, or original documents alongside the PDF.
How to Use
- Navigate to Add Embedded Files from the Editing menu.
- Upload your PDF file using drag-and-drop, Browse Files, or cloud storage (Dropbox / Google Drive).
- Upload the file(s) you want to embed as attachments.
- Click Embed to process.
- Download the result when processing completes.
Options
Upload one or more files of any type to embed into the PDF. The files are stored as document-level attachments accessible from the attachments panel in PDF viewers.
Tips & Notes
PDF/A-3 allows embedded files, making this a useful approach for archiving invoices with their original XML or spreadsheet data attached.
Embedded files increase the overall PDF file size. Keep attachments small or use Compress PDF afterwards if needed.
