Convert to PDF/A
Convert PDFs to the ISO-standardised PDF/A archival format for long-term preservation.
Overview
The Convert to PDF/A tool transforms standard PDF files into PDF/A-compliant documents. PDF/A is an ISO standard (ISO 19005) designed for long-term digital archiving. It ensures that documents remain visually reproducible regardless of the software or operating system used to open them in the future by embedding all fonts, colour profiles, and metadata.
How to Use
- Navigate to Convert to PDF/A from the Conversion menu.
- Upload your file using drag-and-drop, Browse Files, or cloud storage (Dropbox / Google Drive).
- Select the desired PDF/A conformance level.
- Click Convert to process.
- Download the result when processing completes.
Options
| Option | Description |

| Conformance level | Choose the PDF/A version: PDF/A-1b, PDF/A-2b, PDF/A-2u, PDF/A-3b, or PDF/A-3u. Higher versions support more features such as transparency and embedded files. |
Tips & Notes
PDF/A-2b is the most commonly required level for government and legal archiving. If you are unsure which level to use, PDF/A-2b is a safe default.
PDF/A conversion may remove features not permitted by the standard, such as JavaScript, audio/video content, and encryption. Fonts that are not embedded in the original PDF will be embedded or substituted automatically.
